3B Profiles-Naomi!

Hello my name is Naomi. I like to travel, it’s something I do very often, with my family.

I have been as far west as Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon, as far north as Boston, Massachusetts, and as far south as Barbados. Road trips are like a family hobby and we like to stop and explore whenever we get a chance. I also like to go hiking and spend time outdoors when we visit somewhere new.

My dream is to one day move to Russia so that I can study the Siberian Lynx along with other big cats in Russia. I chose the Siberian Lynx because not much is known about that particular cat and Russia seems like an interesting place to go both because of the climate (in relation to North Carolina) and because of the culture. I look forward to the snow, though I don’t really like the cold at all.

Hall Tshirt

Below is the design for this year's hall tshirt.  Our design this year was made by Dina, and I think she did a wonderful job.  If students want to order a tshirt, they should place their order with Amber (or any of the RLAs) by Tuesday, January 28th at 8:30pm.  We cannot accept any orders after this time.  Short sleeved shirts are $11 (regular cut or women's cut) and long sleeved shirts are $13.  We want everyone who wants one to have a hall shirt, so if finances are a concern for any reason, please let me know and we will work it out.  If you have any questions, just drop me an email.

3B Profiles-Shiaomeng!

Hi everyone! My name is Shiaomeng and I am a junior here on 3rd Bryan.

I’m from Wake County, so home is not very far for me. I have one younger sister that I love to death and the most amazing parents ever. My dad is actually an alum of NCSSM (Class of ‘88).

I’m very happy that I’m carrying on the legacy!

Outside of school I love to fence. I’ve been fencing for about five years now, again because of my dad, who fenced while he was here at Smath. There’s not much that I do at school besides eat, sleep, and hang out with my roommate (aka best friend). I love living on 3rd Bryan and look forward to spending the rest of the year (and hopefully next year) with these lovely ladies!

3B Profiles-Rachell!

Hi! I'm Rachell and I am currently a junior. I am from Cary, in Wake County. I have two siblings--an older sister and a twin sister. All three of us have/are currently attending NCSSM. I like to play tennis, eat food, sleep, watch movies, and hang out with my friends. I have played tennis for as long as I can remember, and I really enjoy it. I played top 6 for NCSSM's Women's tennis team this year, and we are second in the state! My favorite food is Italian food; I could eat it all day, everyday. Thanks for reading! :)

3B Profiles-Sheridan!

Hi, I'm Sheridan and I'm a junior on 3rd Bryan. I'm from Shelby, in Cleveland County. I like technology a lot, and I'm a pretty big geek/nerd. I collect retro gaming systems and currently own around forty. I currently have workservice at the smart bar, but I'll fix your laptop whenever.

I enjoy watching Doctor Who, Sherlock, and most recently Supernatural in my free time. I also occasionally draw, though I'm not very good.

I really enjoy life on 3B, and here at NCSSM. The classes are hard, and there's a lot of work, but attending school here is worth it. I hope to eventually get a degree in software engineering or game design, and eventually work for Google.

3B Profiles-Dina!

Hi! My name is Dina, and I'm a junior from Clemmons, in Forsyth county, and I now call 3B my home. I like drawing, dancing, and photography. I live a pretty hectic life here at NCSSM, but I guess I'm just the kind of person that gets satisfaction by being kept busy. Here I have a typical day, as told by my phone camera.

I wake up after a long night, and head off dreaded 8:00AM classes, but the morning light through the Watts breezeway usually gets me in a decent mood for the day.

My morning classes include math and physics, my two favorite classes. Here's our physics class photo throwing eggs of the roof of Bryan! ( yes, for "science")

Once classes are finally out, I pack my gear and board the bus by Bryan Lawn to swim practice, usually met with a nice view of the sunset. I've swam since elementary school, so I'm glad I can still keep it up here.

Once returning to campus, it's usually dark, and the school looks nice lit at night.

I go to dance practice with one or more of the few dance clubs I'm in, which are Kwave and Enthalpy, or with small groups for other various performances, such as Mr. Unicorn or Asiafest.

3B Profiles-Madeleine G!

Greeting! My name is Madeleine G and I am one of the seniors on 3rd Bryan this year. J I am originally from Southern California, but made my way to Ashe County, North Carolina almost exactly 9 years ago. You probably do not know where Ashe County is, but it is in the mountains fairly close to Boone, houses the only cheese plant in the state, offers wonderful kayaking/canoeing/hiking adventures, and is currently frozen under this crazy blizzard.

I am the first from either side of my family to have been born in this country, so I am very eager to learn new languages, travel, and make friends everywhere that I go. My most recent traveling adventure was to Paris last year during Mini-Term, and I look forward to travelling to at least Romania and Spain this summer.

At NCSSM, I am currently the captain of the Speech team, a science communicator, and a biology TA. I also am in the mentorship program and am pursuing research in Duke’s department of Evolutionary Anthropology. I have a wide range of interests, as I hope you have gathered, and I am excited to take my passion and motivation to Williams College this fall!!!

Thank you for reading. :)

3B Profiles-Grace!

Hello! My name is Grace and I’m a senior here on 3rd Bryan. I’m from Roanoke Rapids and I have a younger brother. I’ve gone to nine different schools since 1st grade and lived in Boston, Northern Virginia, and now North Carolina. I’m addicted to Grey’s Anatomy and Law and Order: SVU, and used to be addicted to Breaking Bad until it ended. I love to travel, and I hope to visit Western Europe or the Mediterranean sometime soon.

Here is a picture of me visiting Willemstad, the capital of Curacao.

At NCSSM, I am an attache in the Institutional Advancement office raising money for the school and maintaining connections with alumni. I am also the president of DECA, a business and marketing competitive club. When I have free time, I enjoy volunteering or just hanging out with my friends. In college, I plan on majoring in biology with a minor in business management or financial economics.

Stocking Delivery

When we took the stockings we stuffed to the Carter School to deliver them, Dr, Miller was kind enough to accompany us and read Dr. Seuss' "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas".  The kids were totally entranced, as always.  The stockings and the story were a big hit.

If you would like to see Dr. Miller read the Grinch to the students at Semi, just head on over to http://new.livestream.com/ncssmlivestream/grinch2013 for the video from this year.  The big kids are just as entranced as the little ones.

Community Holiday Dinner

Here are a few pictures of some 3rd Bryan girls enjoying the community holiday dinner we had just before break.
