Commencement Information

Below is the website where you can find all the information about commencement.  Please make sure to take a look at it now and start making plans.  As a reminder, all students, juniors and seniors, are required to be at commencement.  Move-out also happens that day, and all residence halls close no later than 5pm.  That means all the students and their belongings must be out and have checked out with their SLI by that time.  Please go ahead and start planning accordingly.  Start taking items home, bringing back boxes to pack in, and making plans for commencement day.

Find all the pertinent details about commencement at http://www.ncssm.edu/commencement, and feel free to let me know if you have any questions.

Prom!

Yesterday was prom at NCSSM, and we had a full day.  3rd Bryan started the day with our prom brunch in Linsey's apartment.  Cinnamon buns, pancakes, chocolate chip pancakes, and orange juice-just what we needed to get our day off to the right start.

We then had the rest of the day to get all dressed up for the big event.  Everyone looked wonderful and seemed to be having a great time dancing and playing with the exhibits.  Even the chancellor got in on the action, having a great time in the spinning chair.  Overall, I think everyone had a fun, safe prom night.

3B Profiles-Cora!

Hi all, my name is Cora and I’m a junior here at Smath. My roomie is Naomi and she is my best friend. I’m in color guard here at Smath and I absolutely love it, we just had a performance in the schools dance show and I think we did really well. During my time here I mostly do homework but when I’m not I’m usually taking funny face pictures with my friends; here are some examples just for fun. :)

When I’m not wielding a pencil, flag or a Mac book camera I’m usually out getting food with my friends because I LOVE to eat. :) I also run cross-country but I didn’t this year because I felt like I didn’t have time with all the new homework I was getting but I plan to run on our school team next year and some over the summer at home.

Wednesday Crafts

Tonight on hall, Amy taught us how to make bracelets from yarn!  Super fun!  Here are a couple pictures of our craft attempts.

3B Profiles-Qua'Daeja!

Hello. My name is Qua’Daeja. I am 17 years old and I’m a very joyful person.

Here are some interesting facts that you may have not known about me:

· I love to cheer. I was a cheerleader all through middle school, my freshman year, and my sophomore year.

· I never played softball, but I am a manager in hopes of becoming a team member next year.

· I love to sing. It doesn’t sound very well but it’s pleasant to me. J

· I rode my first roller coaster this year. To be exact it was during the Harry Potter Mini-Term in Orlando, Florida. Lucky me!

· I absolutely love dogs. I have a Chihuahua named Cookie.

· I love music because it keeps me at a happy medium during the crazy times at NCSSM.

· I love the outdoors.

Prom and After Prom!

Prom is coming up soon, and you all should have received a whole packet of information from Kevin Cromwell about everything related to prom in your email recently.  In case you missed the email, you can get all the information you need at https://sites.google.com/a/ncssm.edu/ncssm-prom/.  Please pay special attention to the sections about overnight permission and vehicle permission if think you will need either of those.  The prom overnight procedures are different than our normal overnight procedures, and all overnight requests must be submitted by March 26th.

I also want to specifically mention our on campus After Prom activities.  Beginning at 1am, the school will be hosting an after prom party with a hot breakfast catered from Rick's Diner, inflatables like a bounce house, giant slide, and obstacle course, and several movies.  It is free for all students to attend (whether they attended prom or not), and all we ask is that they sign up at the bryan desk by March 26th so we know how much food to get.  I encourage everyone to take advantage of this safe, free, fun option.
