3B Profiles-Dina!

Hi! My name is Dina, and I'm a junior from Clemmons, in Forsyth county, and I now call 3B my home. I like drawing, dancing, and photography. I live a pretty hectic life here at NCSSM, but I guess I'm just the kind of person that gets satisfaction by being kept busy. Here I have a typical day, as told by my phone camera.

I wake up after a long night, and head off dreaded 8:00AM classes, but the morning light through the Watts breezeway usually gets me in a decent mood for the day.

My morning classes include math and physics, my two favorite classes. Here's our physics class photo throwing eggs of the roof of Bryan! ( yes, for "science")

Once classes are finally out, I pack my gear and board the bus by Bryan Lawn to swim practice, usually met with a nice view of the sunset. I've swam since elementary school, so I'm glad I can still keep it up here.

Once returning to campus, it's usually dark, and the school looks nice lit at night.

I go to dance practice with one or more of the few dance clubs I'm in, which are Kwave and Enthalpy, or with small groups for other various performances, such as Mr. Unicorn or Asiafest.

3B Profiles-Madeleine G!

Greeting! My name is Madeleine G and I am one of the seniors on 3rd Bryan this year. J I am originally from Southern California, but made my way to Ashe County, North Carolina almost exactly 9 years ago. You probably do not know where Ashe County is, but it is in the mountains fairly close to Boone, houses the only cheese plant in the state, offers wonderful kayaking/canoeing/hiking adventures, and is currently frozen under this crazy blizzard.

I am the first from either side of my family to have been born in this country, so I am very eager to learn new languages, travel, and make friends everywhere that I go. My most recent traveling adventure was to Paris last year during Mini-Term, and I look forward to travelling to at least Romania and Spain this summer.

At NCSSM, I am currently the captain of the Speech team, a science communicator, and a biology TA. I also am in the mentorship program and am pursuing research in Duke’s department of Evolutionary Anthropology. I have a wide range of interests, as I hope you have gathered, and I am excited to take my passion and motivation to Williams College this fall!!!

Thank you for reading. :)

3B Profiles-Grace!

Hello! My name is Grace and I’m a senior here on 3rd Bryan. I’m from Roanoke Rapids and I have a younger brother. I’ve gone to nine different schools since 1st grade and lived in Boston, Northern Virginia, and now North Carolina. I’m addicted to Grey’s Anatomy and Law and Order: SVU, and used to be addicted to Breaking Bad until it ended. I love to travel, and I hope to visit Western Europe or the Mediterranean sometime soon.

Here is a picture of me visiting Willemstad, the capital of Curacao.

At NCSSM, I am an attache in the Institutional Advancement office raising money for the school and maintaining connections with alumni. I am also the president of DECA, a business and marketing competitive club. When I have free time, I enjoy volunteering or just hanging out with my friends. In college, I plan on majoring in biology with a minor in business management or financial economics.

Stocking Delivery

When we took the stockings we stuffed to the Carter School to deliver them, Dr, Miller was kind enough to accompany us and read Dr. Seuss' "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas".  The kids were totally entranced, as always.  The stockings and the story were a big hit.

If you would like to see Dr. Miller read the Grinch to the students at Semi, just head on over to http://new.livestream.com/ncssmlivestream/grinch2013 for the video from this year.  The big kids are just as entranced as the little ones.

Community Holiday Dinner
