Yearbook and Senior Ad Information!

Senior parents,
The deadline to order a senior ad is quickly approaching. All senior ad orders must be completed by Tuesday December 13th, 2011-NO EXCEPTIONS. Please visit http://www.ncssm.edu:8080/cal/event/showEventMore.rdo for a comprehensive guide on how to pay for a senior ad, available options for designing your senior’s ad, and the actual order form for an ad. Also please note that ordering a yearbook is separate from ordering a senior ad. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact the yearbook coordinators-Matt Boerner (Boerner@ncssm.edu) and Linsey Morrison (morrisonL@ncssm.edu).

Junior parents,
Though the deadline for ordering a yearbook is not as near, please go ahead and look into ordering one so that you are not waiting until the last minute and risk missing the deadline.  The yearbook ordering info can also be found at the link above.

Special Upcoming Events

Though we are only here 2 weeks in December, campus is very busy this time of year.  I want to take a minute to highlight a few upcoming campus wide events that I think are pretty special and not to be missed.
1. Mr. Unicorn-Part beauty pageant, part talent show, part comedy routine, Mr. Unicorn can only be fully understood once you have experienced it.  In short, come out to the ETC auditorium on Saturday, December 3rd at 7pm to see 15 gentlemen compete for the title of Mr. Unicorn and Baby Unicorn.
2. The Nutcracker-In a new NCSSM tradition, our dance ensemble will be partnering with Dr. Jon Miller and a small contingent of the NCSSM orchestra to put on the traditional ballet Friday, December 9th at 7pm in the ETC auditorium.  As an added bonus, several 3rd Bryan girls are involved so please go support them.
3. Winter Semi-formal Dance-A popular NCSSM tradition, the semi-formal dance gives students an excuse to dress up, go out to eat, dance until they want to drop, and then sit on the floor like children while they listen to Dr. Jon Miller read the classic story "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas".
I think that is all I have for now, though I am sure that there are many other events on campus.  I hope to see many of the 3rd Bryan girls participating and am going to try to get some good pictures of everyone dressed up for Semi to post later in the month.

Community Service Project

In December, we decided to focus on appreciating what we have and giving to others in need.  As part of this we decided to take on a community service project as a hall.
On December 12th we will be partnering with 1st Beall to take stockings to the Carter Community School.  This is a grade K-3 school that is located close to NCSSM.  We will be going Monday during common lunch and the meeting block to deliver stockings and visit with the students, and we have invited Dr. Jon Miller, a humanities teacher at NCSSM, to come with us as a special guest and read "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" to the children.  We hope to make a positive impression on the elementary school students and give them something special and fun to remember.
I hope that you all will continue to support us in our efforts to serve other people in out community.  I think it is very important for the student on hall to learn to give back and be good community members and it is my hope that this project and others like it in the future will give them an opportunity to do that.

Thank You!

I want to say a big thank you to all of the parents who sponsored our exam dinners this week.  We had Moe's burritos, Domino's pizza, and Shanghai Chinese food.  The girls loved having at least one really good meal each day of their exams, and I think we made a couple other halls jealous with our great food.  Thanks again for your generous support.

Here is a copy of the November hall calendar.  We aren't here much in November, but we will make the best of the time we have.
