February Calendar

February is such a fun month with trimester break, miniterm, the Sadie Hawkins dance, the winter musical, the superbowl, and the NCSSM powwow.  As long as you don't pay attention to those pesky exams, everything in life is good.  Seriously, though the time leading up to exams can be stressful for students, we have a lot of fun activities on hall and campus wide this month, and I hope everyone will find something they can enjoy.

I am especially excited this month about our trip on February 10th to the Durham Shambhala Meditation Center where the director of the center will lead us in some meditation instruction.  Perfect timing for a little stress relief right in the middle of exams.

Study Break and Exam Dinner Sign Ups

Parents,

Now that we are into the second half of the year, we are coming up on some of the unclaimed study breaks and exam dinners.  If you have not signed up yet, or if you have already sponsored a snack but would like to sponsor another, please check out the list below and let me know which available date you would like to claim.  Thanks again to everyone who supports our weekly study breaks.  They are something the girls look forward to each week, and we couldn't have them without your help.

January Calendar

The January calendar looks a little sparse after how busy our December was.  We still have a few activities in the works that didn't make it on to the calendar that we are trying to find a time for, but you can get an overview of what we have planned.  Besides a little spontaneity is good for us so adding thing in later will keep us on our toes.

Carter School Stockings

Below are some of the pictures from when we delivered stockings to the Carter School students and had Dr. Jon Miller read The Grinch to the students.  The students were very appreciative of our efforts and wrote us thank you cards for the story and the gifts we brought.  I think the big kids and the little kids had a great time.

Letters to Santa

As a hall activity we all wrote letters to Santa that we mailed through the Macy's "A Million Reasons to Believe" campaign.  For each letter that is mailed in their stores, they will donate $1 to the Make a Wish Foundation up to one million dollars.  Here are a couple pictures of the girls who went with me to deliver the letters.
