Prom!

I know it seems early, but prom is coming up quickly. Prom is Saturday, April 17th this year which is a mere month and a half away. That means you might want to go ahead and start talking with your daughters about their plans for the night.
For those of you don't know, NCSSM's prom is held at the North Carolina Museum of Life and Science in Durham. It is a great, unique setting for the event, but it also brings up the problem of students having to get from campus to the museum.
The school does provide loops on that day to popular places for dinner and then loops to the museum. but many students prefer another option. The extended before prom, students are allowed to bring their cars to campus, park them, and turn their keys in to the front desk. On the day of prom, students can use their cars to go to hair and make-up appointments, get to dinner, and then drive themselves to the museum. After prom, students have to turn their keys back in to the desk and leave their car parked until the next extended when they must take the car home. Another popular option is for parents to come to Durham that day to help their child get ready for and get to and from prom.
Many students also want to do after prom activities. Though we do have activities on campus after prom, some students want to stay off campus, go home with friends, or participate in numerous other activities. This is allowed, but there is some paperwork required of parents to assure that the student has your permission.
I know this is a lot of information to process, and you probably have questions. No worries! Before long, you will be receiving a whole packet of information from the school via email. If you still have questions after you get that packet, I encourage you to email me or call me so we can figure out the answers.
