Prom Updates and Reminders

You should have received an email last week with all the details of prom that you could ever want to know, but let me take a moment to provide you with a brief overview and a few important reminders.

  • NCSSM is hosting the Junior-Senior Prom at the North Carolina Museum of Life and Science on Saturday April 20.
  • The museum's interactive exhibits and the butterfly house are available during the Prom
  • All NCSSM students are invited to attend. Students may also choose to bring a guest from home.
  • It is common for a group of friends or hallmates to attend Prom together. It is not expected or necessary to have a date to attend.
  • Individual tickets are $50.00. Purchases may be made on campus during lunch beginning March 25th (cash/check) or via on-line by credit card at http://www.ncssm.edu/ecentral/prom-2013-payments.
  • There are many staff members present to help chaperone, but we would love family volunteers if you would like to help or need an excuse to see the festivities.
  • Student Life is providing an on-campus After Prom party (free to all) with a hot breakfast, bounce houses and movies.
  • NCSSM does not sanction any off campus activities after prom, and if a student is planning to stay off campus, we highly encourage parents to speak with the chaperone who will be hosting the event.
  • If you choose to give your students permission to be gone overnight for prom night, I must receive the special Prom Overnight Permission for no later than April 17th.  Any forms received after this date will not be approved.
  • Students who live more than 2 hours away from campus may choose to bring a car back to campus on April 7th and it must return home by May 2nd.  Students who are closer than 2 hours may bring a car to campus April 19th and it must be returned home by April 21st.  For all the details on having cars on campus, please see the prom information packet.

Please let me know if you have any other questions about prom or if you did not receive the link to the prom information packet.
