Though you may not realize it, graduation is sneaking up on us. There are only about 80 days left until Commencement and move out day! I know this still seems like a long time, but let me give you some advice--use Spring Break as your kick off for beginning to move things out of the dorm and back home! Think of it as a kind of spring cleaning.
I challenge each family to being at least one bag of things home each extended from now until the end of the year. It will make your move out day so much easier if you only have a few bags and boxes to move out. Think about how much you moved in on move-in day in August, add to that all the things your student has brought back to school from extendeds or accumulated here, and then imagine trying to move all that our after commencement. The more you take home early, the better.
A couple other things to keep in mind: the last week of school, students have room inspections each day and will be required to pack and clean certain things to assure that they are ready for move out. This means that students should have enough bags and boxes here to completely pack their room before you arrive for commencement. It also means that the more stuff they still have here, the harder it will be for them to get it all packed and moved out of the way to clean their room and the less time they will have to spend on fun activities and enjoying the last few days of the year.
Take my advice, and start your spring cleaning early!
